Oak Lawn Play Date

For kids with spina bifida, age 0-10, their parents and siblings.

Kids will meet other kids with sb and play in the museum with professional sitters.

Parents are invited to a talk by Dr. Meg Carroll, Professor of Education at Saint Xavier University. Dr. Carroll will speak on the topic of Social Skills and Making Friends. Social skills develop just as language and cognitive skills do.  And, just like cognition and language, stimulation and practice help social skills grow. All parents want their children to be happy and friends can help. Learn about social skills and ways that you can help your child be ready for friendship.

Dr. Meg Carroll is Professor of Education at Saint Xavier University, preparing special education and general education teachers.  She is a frequent presenter at parent and teacher workshops and offers practical ideas and activities that help children learn.  She is the author of What Did You Do at School Today?  A Guide to Schooling and School Success. Her Optimism Kit: Reaching Children with Autism is available in English or in a bilingual English/Arabic version.

Refreshments will be provided. Spanish speaking staff will be in attendance.
