The clinical portion is approximately one hour. If you complete the clinical assessment successfully, a behind-the-wheel evaluation will be recommended. In the behind-the-wheel stage of the program, you will complete a 90-minute behind-the-wheel test with a driving rehabilitation specialist who will assess your driving ability.

The driving rehabilitation program lasts about 2 1/2 hours. It has two parts to it. The program has a clinical portion that takes about an hour and a half where they assess the physical/visual cognitive abilities of a patient, and then they do a complete on-road assessment.

Description: Clinical driving evaluation requires approximately two hours, includes the following & is covered by insurance: Brief medical history, Cognitive screening, Brake reaction speed test, Visual screening. Behind the wheel evaluation, if appropriate, is scheduled on another day with an occupational therapist and driving instructor. There is a $300 out of pocket cost. This evaluation includes the following: Driving in a real world setting, Independently getting in and out of a car, and storing mobility aids as needed, and Identifying the need for adaptive equipment.
